The 21st Century High School After School Safety and Enrichment for Teens (ASSETs) program provides local flexibility in the establishment or expansion of community learning centers that provide students in grades nine through twelve with academic enrichment opportunities and activities designed to complement students’ regular academic program and that support college and career readiness, assist with literacy and related educational development services for families of these students, and provide a safe environment for students participating in their programs. Programs operate for a minimum of 15 hours per week after school and any combination of before school, weekends, evenings, summer, intersession and vacation. The primary elements to be offered include academic assistance and enrichment. Available funding ranges from $50,000 to $254,500 per site and is determined by school enrollment.
